Subject: You've Been Nominated for the
2013 Small Business of the Year Award!

Good Afternoon,
As Chair of the Small Business Awards
Committee, it is my distinct pleasure to
inform you that your company has been
nominated for the 2013 Small Business of the
Year Award.
Every year, this prestigious award is
bestowed on three businesses having 1-20,

standing of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of
Commerce at time of nomination, and have
shown exemplary success within their
industry. Your company was nominated based
on the belief that you meet these criteria.
Again, I would like to congratulate you on
your nomination for this exciting award. We
look forward to receiving your completed
application by January 23, 2013.
Sincerely,
Ronelle Sellers

Are you available to be a
featured speaker or panelist during a luncheon meeting? I'm on
the board of the Chattanooga Technology Council (CTC), a
non-profit organization devoted to promoting the growth of
technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and education
throughout the greater Chattanooga area.
CTC is well-known in the local
business and technology community.
I'd like to [expose] them to
dynamic people like you ... and I honestly mean this because who
(other than you) would have thought, when you first discussed
SIB, that it would turn into what it is today ... launching so
many businesses and especially giving a voice to
African American women business owners.
I'm VP of Special Events and
Programs for the CTC Board, and am currently scheduling speakers
for 2012. Are you interested in telling your story?
Are you interested in
speaking? If so, email or call me.
FYI ... I also want to tell
you about an upcoming Technology Conference in Chattanooga.

There are several associations that assist businesses in our
community and they all have their niche; such as the Manufactures
Association, the Association of General Contractors, the Minority
Contractors Association, Rotary, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of
Commerce, Sisters in Business
and the Realtors Association, just to name a few. We encourage
people to join and support those associations when it fills a need
for their business. These associations build networks to support
their membership, they advocate for change and they give back to
their communities.

My business webpage on the Sisters In Business
website is still working! A client of mine called me after
finding me on the internet. She said she had lost my business
card, but remembered that I was online. She searched for me
online, found my webpage with contact info, called me, and booked a
couple of services. Thank you for what you've done for my

SISTERS-IN-BUSINESS has truly been a great
platform for my business. By joining Sisters-In-Business, I have been
able to exchange and share new ideas with Tekelia and members which
has enable me to capitalized on my dream. EXPOSURE has been
wonderful. I have received numerous of telephone calls and e-mails
advising me that they have seen my work on line. In February of 2007,
Sisters-In-Business and I were featured on WRCB-TV 3 Trends. I have
also been given an opportunity to showcase my work in one of
Chattanooga local businesses. By partnering with
SISTERS-IN-BUSINESS, it has truly opened doors that once were closed.
Thank You!

Mrs. Kelly, I am a new comer to Chattanooga, being here
for almost 2 years, from Ohio. I have attended a few of your Networking
events which were very informative. I receive your emails which keep me
informed on community events. I read the email regarding AYES and I had to
take a moment out of my "busy" day and say Congratulations! Out of all the
Network and Community associations I have come across in Chattanooga, your
organization is the one I see truly making a impact on the community. And I
feel you deserve a standing ovation. Good luck to you and all you are doing.
Have a blessed and wonderful day.
--S. Jamison.
Networking, advertising, word of mouth referrals and
relationships are the things I value about Sisters In Business; along
with the insight I gain from being with other business women, hearing their
experience and how they do things. I also value the fellowship.

"Below is what has happened since I joined SIB:
• Wrote 6 policies as a result of people I met
[as an exhibitor] at the SIB 1 year anniversary.
• Quoted numerous policies as a result of people
and members met (Health Nut, Tonya Horne, Ferlencia's Floral Designs)
• Ferlencia has done a flower arrangement for my
office which is beautiful by the way!
• I have purchased some vitamins from Joyce
Holt
• I have referred a friend to Dr. Cassandra
Whitaker
I have met other small business owners and I am also
developing a network of people that I can call and or refer for products
or services. Not only that, but as a Chattanooga transplant I am getting
my name out in the Chattanooga area which is wonderful."

"Tekelia, I listed my business in the Yellow Pages, but
though they have an online service, it's just a directory search. They could
never do for me what you're doing for me on the website. You put my business
out there, showcasing what I do. Networking has been essential for getting
business. Sister's in Business has played a part in the networking. The
newsletter has prompted some telephone calls for orders. So the SIB
newsletter is an awesome tool! I sent the SIB Online Newsletter article to
my mother and sister in Chicago. They sent it to Florida; from there it was
sent to Washington State, where I got a customer order. Then it returned
back to Chattanooga where I got a customer referral." --Ferlencia Tuggle,

"It's working! When I went to work, I was hit with 'I
saw you on the Internet introducing your new business venture'. WOW! I

Girls Incorporated (formerly known as the Girls
Club) has as our motto: inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold
I cannot think of a stronger, bolder, or smarter
move than the establishment of Sisters in Business. You are an inspiration
to us all. Sisters in Business is a reminder to us all that we are
so much stronger, much smarter and much bolder when we
work together in a spirit of sisterhood.
In addition to our after school and community
program, Girls Inc. offers a range of Summer Career Academies to give girls
a comprehensive introduction to various career fields. In addition to a Law
Academy, a Journalism Academy and a Health Careers Academy, since 2004, we
have offered GIRLVENTURE, a program to inspire girls as future entrepreneurs
and business women.
We are so honored that Sisters in Business has
chosen to donate a portion of the proceeds from this first (and I
know there will be many more such events) luncheon and networking event to
support this program.
Twenty-seven girls have given up one entire month of
their summer vacation to participate in GIRLVENTURE. They attend all day
everyday - 8:00 – 5:30 – learning about how to start their own businesses,
visiting local companies and meeting female entrepreneurs and business
owners.
All 27 could not be here today – they are busy
working on their business plans for the end of program business plan
competition - but I would like to introduce to you 9 girls who are part of
the program. These are some of the future entrepreneurs you are paving the
way for:
Please stand when I call your name.
- Jabrelle Thomas
- JaMiecia Love
- Mykia Turner
- Rolisha Davis
- Shaquilla Ball
- Taneshia Woods
- Cori Moon
- Candace Douglas
- Derisha Roberson
I would also like to acknowledge Shea Johnson, GIC
VP for Finance and Operations who is guiding girls through the business
planning process and Terri Jeter McAvoy, GIC Board Chair and winner of this
year’s Athena Award
You are all invited to the GIRLVENTURE business plan
competition on June 29th at 1:00 at UTC. Join us then and see
future sister entrepreneurs in action.
