Diane (Leslie) Mason, a native Chattanoogan, received her education from the Chattanooga public schools. Tennessee State University and Chattanooga State Tech. In 1974 out of a deep concern for early child development in African American children, she along with her family, opened Kandy Kastle Child Development Center in a converted garage in their family home. In 1980 she and her husband, Gerald, took the business to a commercial level and opened the first owned commercial Child Developed Center on McCallie Ave. in the downtown area. With the support of family and the Chattanooga community. Kandv Kastle grew to five locations, servicing over 1,200 children with a vast variety of educational programs.

After 28 years of total commitment to developing children. Mrs. Mason retired in 2002. But she still had another burning desire, Fashions! In 2003, along with her daughter Brooke, who has a degree in fashion merchandising, they opened “Strut “Fashions with an Attitude”  located at Brainerd Market Center, Suite 116.  The Boutique specializes in unique women’s apparel and accessories and Special Occasion Wear with emphases on apparel for “Today’s Women”, sizes 16 and up. Her commitment to the community through Strut is to bring the latest in fashions to the women of Chattanooga, from major fashion cities. Again with strong support from the community’ this goal will be accomplished.
