'Ferlencia's Floral Designs' Joins SIB

Sisters In Business is proud to present its newest Business Client and Member of the Sisters In Business Network, Ferlencia Tuggle.  Ferlencia is the owner of Ferlencia's Floral Designs, located at 711 Tunnel Boulevard in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Ferlencia started her floral design business in February 2006.  She has been working since that time to get her name in circulation as a small business owner.  "I have been doing flowers for about ten (10) years, and God gave me a business vision, and provision to get started", Ferlencia shared.

Ferlencia has made great strides as a new business owner, adding to her credit the recent New Business Start-up Award (see picture at left), presented by the African American Chamber of Commerce, as  part of their 2006 Community Choice Awards event.

SIB is happy to have Ferlencia as a Business Client, and member of the Sisters In Business Network!  You can now find her in the Sisters In Business Business Directory and  Vendor Showcase, as she is also a "Holiday Shopping Showcase and Business Expo" vendor/exhibitor. As with all SIB Clients and Partners, SIB looks forward to empowering Ferlencia's efforts to "circulate" her business name.  How befitting, (and wise one might add) the choice to join a network who is actually in "the NAME Strategy" business, as coined by SIB owner Tekelia Kelly.  Sisters In Business' NAME Strategy is an acronym for Network, Advertise, Market, and Empower!", said .Tekelia Kelly.   This is exactly what Sisters In Business is in the business to do for those in the Sisters In Business Network.

SIB Seeks to Empower Women to Be Healthy! Introducing Felicia Wilson, SIB Health/Fitness Writer

Sisters In Business is happy and proud to introduce Felicia D. Wilson, a certified Health & Fitness Instructor  Felicia as a column writer for Sisters In Business.  Felicia has been asked to share her expertise with SIB readers in an effort to help empower women to stay fit and healthy.

Felicia is married to Marcus D. Wilson.  They have very active 11 year old (Akina), nd 18 year old step daughter (DeAngela) and grandson. She was raised in a single parent home as the middle child of 3 girls.  She graduated from UTC (University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga) in 2000 with a BS degree in Psychology.  She is employed by UnumProvident and has worked for the last 6 years as a Senior Disability Benefit Specialist

Fitness has been apart of Felicia's life for over 10 years. She has been a certified instructor for 3 years.  She teaches aerobic and strength training classes during her lunch breaks at work.  Felicia began teaching a fitness classes at New United Church, and later started a fitness class at her current place of worship St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church.

Felicia had struggled with coming up with a name and mission statement. Then she shared that the Holy Spirit spoke to her and gave her the word "Faith". Understanding that Faith is "the thing hoped for and the evidence of things not seen", Felicia began thinking about a person who has never worked out, yet having a desire to workout. She thought about how this person would need faith to know that the results will come with the work.

"Well to make a long story short", said Felicia, the name of the class is "Faithful Fitness".  She explained that the fitness class' foundation is built on I Corinthian 9-19-20: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."

Felicia also shared that she gets great joy out of the class and having the ladies trust in the gift that God has given her to help them better themselves.  She feels that as her class is building up themselves, they are also building up the kingdom of God.

"I am so grateful and thankful to my wonderful husband and daughter. They share me unselfishly with not only the fitness ministry, but with our women's ministry and discipleship classes for our youth", Felicia said.

Look for the Sisters In Business Health and Fitness column written by "Faithful Fitness" Instructor Felicia Wilson starting in the month of October 2006.

YOUTH IN BUSINESS

WE WANT YOU!

That's AYES!  Sisters In Business has a passion for youth, and also wish for them to discover their potential to do business as young business entrepreneurs.  That's why the Sisters In Business Holiday Shopping Showcase & Business Expo 2006 has allotted a limited number of  tables for young folk (15-21) who may wish to do  business and showcase their talent and skills. Do you know a young person who has marketable skills?  Do they show the potential of being in a junior business?  Maybe they are good at word processing, or other office applications, provide computer training or computer technical support, can sing, dance, or do dramatizations for special occasions, create dynamic drawings and wonderful paintings, knit or crochet beautiful blankets, braid hair, has baby sitting service, write story/poetry books, or tutor children.

Maybe you, or someone you know, could help sponsor such a youth on this day. Why not help some young person develop their talents and abilities and show them how their skills are a marketable resource that could help sustain and financially support them in life if/when needed.  Get their business plan, display, and business cards ready, and coach them that day as they explore the world of entrepreneurship and business commerce.

Please consider being a mentor to children whenever you can.  Thank you!.

Business Quote

Everything about business comes down to PEOPLE. Where in business can we escape the impact of human care, human creativity, human commitment, human frustration, and human despair? There is no reason for anything in business to exist if it does not serve the needs of people.

Sister-Girl Story

Story submitted by: Tekelia C. Kelly

I read a passage sent to me by a dear sister entitled TGIF: God's Recruitment Strategy for Leaders.  TGIF stands for "Today God Is First" I wrote back in an email the following.  (Click here to read TGIF passage.)

Wow!  This passage truly “hits the nail on the head” with what we were talking about this morning, doesn’t it?  This encourages my heart and “refuels” my strength.

It is so like our God to intercede and make “on-time” contact with us via messages like below.  When God-cidents like this happen I am reminded of his Word that says, “He’s intimately acquainted with all my ways” (Ps. 139:1-16), and that “He will guide me with His eye upon me. (Ps. 32:.8).  As I have heard it also described once by someone, God has just “winked” at us! This passage is like an affirmation--as though He heard and felt everything we shared this morning--and He did!

I had been praying about my "feeling" so distraught about situations, yet knowing I must persevere because I had been in this kind of place many times before; ONLY to see ‘God’s Hand’ and His Faithfulness time and time again.  But as I said on the phone, it seems the trials are getting harder and longer to stay in.  And that’s because the roots are going down deeper --in Him-- each time.

Thank you so much for sharing, Dear Sister!

Tekelia
