Shop Early for the Holidays and Help the Chattanooga Community Kitchen!
It has been said that many of us are one paycheck a way from losing everything we own and being homeless. According to the 'Mayor's Office News' page found on the City of Chattanooga's website at www.chattanooga.gov "Last year more than two dozen (24) people died on the streets of Chattanooga as victims of homelessness, hunger, joblessness, sickness and in desperation."
On November 4, 2006 from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Imperial Ball Room, Sisters In Business will host its "1st Annual Holiday Shopping Showcase & Business Expo. The event will serve as a food drive and fundraiser for the Chattanooga Kitchen, as well as a platform for empowering women-owned and small businesses in Chattanooga and surrounding areas. Launching of this event is also a proactive step towards stimulating socio-economic development in the community, and sustaining household and business income. About the Showcase
Shop Early for the Holidays! Over 30 fantastic vendor will offer fashions. jewelry, handbags, hats, shoes, fragrances, candles, floral designs, art & crafts, books, pictures, decorated accessories, household, culinary, gift and novelty items, as well as professional and business services such as hair, facials, spa, catering, health and wellness, financial, and real estate services.
In an effort to benefit the homeless men, women and children serviced by the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, a $1.00 donation from shoppers along with any donated canned goods will be accepted at the door. Donations can also be made at the Chattanooga Community Kitchen located on 11th Street.

November Ballot Measures Summary
State of Tennessee
Constitutional Amendment 1
Passage of the amendment
would define marriage as being between one man and one woman.
Constitutional Amendment 2
Passage of the amendment
would authorize, but not require, the General Assembly to implement a
program of property tax relief for persons sixty-five (65) years of
age or older. Amendment allows local governments to provide for such
a program.
City of Chattanooga
Ordinance 11872
Passage of the proposed ordinance would
repeal the existing provisions regarding the appointment of members of
the Electric Power Board; and further provides that the Mayor shall
appoint such members, subject to confirmation by the City Council, and
to permit the Electric Power Board to elect its own chair and vice
chair.
Ordinance 11873
Passage of this ordinance deletes the
City Engineer position from those Charter officials who must be
appointed after the election of the Mayor.
Ordinance 11877
Passage of this proposed ordinance would
prohibit federal, state and county employees from holding popularly
elected office under the City of Chattanooga government as well as
those having an interest in any contract with the city.

We are each born
