President's club luncheon on May 25, at the Chattanooga Marriott.
This event is to celebrate Avon representatives outstanding success
2005-2006. Janice earned the Honor Society award for sales of
$20,200.00 in a year. Janice also earned second place for
increased sales of over $7,000.00 in her district.

Study Regarding Minorities and Women-Owned Businesses Before
Council. Deferred Until later date
The Disparity Study, scheduled to reviewed by the
Chattanooga City Council the week of June 27, has been deferred until a
later date to assure ample attendance of council members.
The study involves several factors, of which include the
analysis of contracting practices, and
equal
opportunity for participation in contracts
where
minorities and women owned businesses are concerned.
Also the study is to provide "both qualitative and
quantative data from a socio-economic perspective that will be used to
drive the work of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and its advisory
board."

The 28th Legislative District
Community Development Corporation is pleased to invite entrepreneurs to an
informational meeting on Tuesday the 25th of July, 2006 that will address
opportunities on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The primary focus of this
meeting will be business opportunities in a real estate project set to
begin construction in early July.
The meeting will provide
information on the individual prospects related to this project, and also,
general information on opportunities along the MLK corridor. Additionally
this meeting will provide information on the types of financing available
and the steps one would be encouraged to take to successfully start a
business along MLK.

Tennessee's First Annual Sales
Tax Holiday August 4-6
Tennessee will hold its first annual sales
tax holiday in August, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 and
ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6. During this time period, consumers
may purchase selected clothing, school supplies and computers without
paying Tennessee's state and local sales tax on the items. This holiday
also includes purchases of designated items sold via mail, telephone,
e-mail, or Internet if the customer orders and pays for the item and the
retailer accepts the order during the exemption period for immediate
shipment, even if delivery is made after the exemption period.
During
the holiday items exempt from sales and use tax include: clothing with a
price of $100 or less per item; school supplies with a price of $100 or
less per item; computers with a price of $1,500 or less per item. There is
no limit to the quantity of items that may be purchased as long as the
purchase price of each item falls within the price range set by law. For
