Holiday Showcase & Business Expo in Chattanooga, TN

In answer to requests from our last event's customers and exhibitors, Sisters In Business is proud to present another vendor showcase event— entitled "Holiday Shopping Showcase & Business Expo 2006", designed to feature sister-owned as well as other business exhibitors, along with their products and services. 

We are inviting exhibitors of all kinds who offer jewelry, fashions, handbags, hats, shoes, decorated accessories, fragrances, candles, floral designs, art & crafts, books, pictures, toys, games, electronics, media, gifts and novelty items; as well as those who provide hair, facial, spa, catering, wedding, health and wellness, financial, business, and other support type services.** 

We are promoting this event to over 45,000 people in the southeaster region.  The event will also serve as a fundraiser for the the Chattanooga Community KitchenYour $1.00 admission price will help make a difference in the community over the holidays.  And should you wish to further help the cause, your canned food donations will also be graciously accepted at the Community Kitchen, or our Sisters In Business event that day.  After all, it's a Sisters In Business "thing", and you know we believe that "it's not just about making money, but making a difference in someone's life." Disparity Study Regarding Minorities and  Women-Owned Businesses  Before Council.  Deferred Until later date

The Disparity Study, scheduled to reviewed by the Chattanooga City Council the week of June 27, has been deferred until a later date to assure ample attendance of council members.     

The study involves several factors, of which include the analysis of contracting practices, and equal opportunity for participation in contracts where minorities and women owned businesses are concerned.

 Also the study is to provide "both qualitative and quantative data from a socio-economic perspective that will be used to drive the work of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and its advisory board."

Tennessee's First Annual Sales Tax Holiday August 4-6
Tennessee will hold its first annual sales tax holiday in August, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6. During this time period, consumers may purchase selected clothing, school supplies and computers without paying Tennessee's state and local sales tax on the items. This holiday also includes purchases of designated items sold via mail, telephone, e-mail, or Internet if the customer orders and pays for the item and the retailer accepts the order during the exemption period for immediate shipment, even if delivery is made after the exemption period. 
During the holiday items exempt from sales and use tax include: clothing with a price of $100 or less per item; school supplies with a price of $100 or less per item; computers with a price of $1,500 or less per item. There is no limit to the quantity of items that may be purchased as long as the purchase price of each item falls within the price range set by law.
