Girls Inc Awards Women Leaders! Sisters In Business Empowers Business Online

Girls Inc teens participating in the Women’s History Project, along with their staff and board members, named 14 women who have changed Chattanooga.  In the spirit of Shirley Chisom, the first African American woman to run for president of the United States, the award models Ms. Chisholm declaration of herself as a representative of all people and made a commitment to serve as a leader who would remain “unbought and unbossed.

Sisters In Business Founder and Owner Tekelia Cassaundra (Crutcher) Kelly was one of those honored with the "2007 Unbought and  Unbossed" Award Zsa Zsa Perryman, Assistant Account Executive of Waterhouse Public Relations and Coordinator for the Girls Inc Women History Team spoke during the event about the girls' journey for choosing women they desired to see receive the award.  In the process of conducting their research, the girls indicated how they thought all nominees would be found in Google.  A notion that was brought into alignment as Ms. Perryman guided the young women to "rediscover paper-based

research".  The technology-savvy, business-leadership quality girls took information gathered from the library and developed a MySpace page for their award winners.  The MySpace page highlighted each honoree and was projected as a sidebar throughout the ceremony.  The girls' product made for a very professional-looking presentation, and great example of how such a online medium can be used for education and presentation.

Upon acceptance of her award, Tekelia Kelly acknowledged and thanked her "smart, strong, and bold" Girls Inc teen awarder Jamecia Love, who also attends Boyd Buchanan School.  She explained how delighted she was to learn from Jamecia while doing their email interview that Jamecia had attended Tekelia Kelly's CHIPS Computer Camp program about eight years ago as a 3rd Grader.

After thanking the Girls, Inc staff and board; table guests to inlcude Sisters in Business clients Dorothea Johnson (Inner Glow Skin Care Services) and Joyce Holt (The Health Nut); and parents Maelene (Branham) and Moses Crutcher, Tekelia closed referring to earlier statement made by Zsa Zsa Perryman's regarding the girls expecting find people in Google and humorously added "We can get you in Google!"

More about Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga:

Why Getting in Google & Other Search Engines Good for Business With Zsa Zsa Perryman

Why Getting in Google (or any Search Engine) can be good for your business, and networking.

“At Waterhouse Public Relations one of the first things we do when we evaluate a client is look at their Web site.  If you’re not present on the Internet, then you may as well not exist. Your Web site should be a direct reflection of the message your company wants the rest of the world to know. If it’s not, then you’re turning away potential customers. Who cares what you have to offer if you do not know how to offer it the correct way?”

Quote by Zsa Zsa Perryman

Assistant Account Executive of Waterhouse Public Relations

& Coordinator of the Girls Women History Team

People are online searching for business, products, services all the time, locally, nationally, and even worldwide. Being searchable and findable on the world wide web is vitally important for business today, as people use the internet, email, and search engines like Google.  Even the teen girls in the Girls Inc Women History Team project noted how they expected to find and conduct research on all their nominated honorees on the internet via a search engine like Google, as explained by Zsa Zsa Perryman, Coordinator of the Girls Inc Women History Team.

Having a website is great and essential, and is now expected for businesses today. However, though it's great to have a company website, if no one can find you and your website, your efforts are in vain.  At Sisters In Business, we promote and advise our clientele to have their own company website, in addition to having a business webpage and directory listing inside our business network.  Being in the Sisters In Business Network is like having a storefront in our mall, where there is ongoing internet traffic, or visitors, 365 days a year 24-7 a day.  Our strategy is then "link" this dynamic traffic to our clients and partners company websites.

Sisters In Business is a internet-based networking and advertising company.  We helps people find you and your business using our Search Engine Optimized (SEO) company website.  This has yielded an excellent track record for our website and members in the network.  he search engines for most relevant searches.  We have very proven results of placing our clients' and partners and their websites/webpages in search engines like Google, Yahoo, Dogpile, Goodsearch, and more for most relevant searches.

Google has become known as the most used, most powerful search engine and advertising platforms on the internet.  Having a website and one that can be found is the order of the day...and "we can get you in Google", with a significant ranking in most instances.  It is important for anyone doing business today to have a email address, website, webpage, and/or some kind of findable presence on the internet.  Sisters In Business "can get you in Google"...as well as any other major search engine to help you brand, build, and broadcast your business.

Mary Williams' Floral Gallery Celebrates 20 Years of Business Serving Chattanooga and More!

Mary Williams, Owner of The Floral Gallery, located at 1524 Dodds Ave. Chattanooga, TN

Congratulations to Mrs. Mary Williams Owner of the Floral Gallery, Celebrating 20 Years of Floral Design Business  Services.  Mrs. Williams is a business woman extraordinaire, and we are very proud to have such an established business woman in Chattanooga, and the Sisters In Business Network!

A lot can be learned from Mrs. Williams' business acumen; rooted in goodwill,  professionalism, and excellent community and customer service.  Like that given to Lisa Fontana of  Henderson Hutcherson McCullough, an partnering Chattanooga accounting firm who was also a Silver Level sponsor for Sisters In business "1st Year Anniversary and Grand Opening of Sisters In Business.Net.  Tekelia Kelly was told of Mrs. Mary's quality service and business professionalism.  Ms. Fontana also mentioned how she discovered that Mrs. Williams was part of the Sisters In Business Network by recognizing her Client Membership Certificate displayed out front in her service area.

Thank you Mrs. Mary Williams for your excellent model as a Sister In Business.  We appreciate your business in the Sisters In Business Network.

Lisa Fontana of Henderson Hutcherson  & McCullough's Praises The Floral Gallery

"On February 26th I was leaving work late and headed to my daughter's basketball game.  It was a pretty big game and it was also my daughter's 17th birthday. I thought it would be really nice to give her flowers after the game.  Of course I am the world's worst at waiting until the last minute and this time was no different!  With no time to spare I headed to the game hoping to find a florist that was still open.  It was my lucky day!  I stopped at The Floral Gallery on Dodds Avenue, and the owner Ms. Mary Williams took great pains with me even though it was time for her to close.  Ms. Williams personally worked on putting my bouquet together until she thought it was just right.  As I was paying her and thanking her again for helping me,  I noticed a frame on her desk that read "Sisters in Business".    I had just become familiar with Sisters in Business through a co-worker, Terri Jeter McAvoy and was thrilled to be doing business with one of its participants.  I said as much to Ms.  Williams and with a huge smile and lots of pride in her voice she told me she was one of the founding members.

Thanks, Lisa"

Ferlencia's Floral Design Celebrates 1st Year Anniversary!  A Message from the Owner

Ferlencia Tuggle is now displayed in Warehouse Row in downtown Chattanooga, TN

A year has passed since the opening of Ferlencia’s Floral Designs at 711 Tunnel Blvd. It has been a busy and interesting year for me and the business. I have learned so much and God has placed some wonderful people in my path. Networking has been essential for getting business... Sister’s in Business has played a part in the networking. The newsletter has prompted some telephone calls for orders and encouraging words from friends and former co-workers.  So the SIB newsletter is an awesome tool for the Sisters.

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Stephanie Sinkfield, Owner & Agent of State Farm Insurance, another Sisters In Business client.  I designed and delivered a couple of arrangements, to include one for office.  Stephanie has also serviced me by providing me a quote a business insurance policy.

I have learned to think outside the box, be very creative because the consumer is always looking for something different, and offer affordable and well made quality consumer items. Those are just 3 ways to describe my floral designs and anything that I do.

On this my first anniversary I can look back and truly see growth in my business.
This year I have added equipment that allows me to do more fresh cut flowers
for weddings and Valentines Day and Sympathy Sprays and a lot more...
Doing fresh cut has also allowed me to do some delivery in the Chattanooga area... Also I will be in the yellow pages in July 2007 which is a huge step for the business. I have spent a lot of time on networking and marketing the business. For advertising purposes I have compiled a CD slideshow of pictures of my floral designs. Some of these designs are displayed in a window for viewing at Warehouse Row in downtown Chattanooga and you can purchase some things at Penney’s Corner in Warehouse Row. I have truly been blessed and I give God all the glory for everything and I know that he has a lot more in store for me. I would like to thank everyone for their patronage, referrals and encouraging words. And I want Chattanooga to know that I am here for their floral needs and I look forward to serving them. Never give up on your dreams!

A Time for Renewal by Dr. Tanya Horne, M.D.

Spring is just a few weeks a way.   Springtime is a time for renewal, new beginnings and spring cleaning.  Before you start on those spring cleaning chores.  Stop and take some time for yourself.  As workingwomen in the home or outside the home, you are often so busy taking care of everyone else that we seldom stop to take the time to take care of ourselves.  There are projects and deadlines at work, school activities, church activities, sports, community events, family events, not to mention the cooking, cleaning and the laundry that has to be done because your son says he has no more clean undershirts to wear.  You know the saying, “A woman’s work is never done.”

Today’s women lives are filled with activities.  We are often rushing from one event to the other from sun up to sundown and we fall exhausted into the   Read more of column.

In my travels around this great country talking with thousands of women business owners, many revealed to me that they started their own business because they were not advancing as quickly as they wanted.  Others replied that they wanted to do it their way and simply be their own boss.
